// Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP)

NASA's Mesoscale Atmospheric Processes Laboratory produces the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) monthly precipitation dataset from 1979-present by combining observations and satellite precipitation data into 2.5°x2.5° global grids. CDS provides access to global precipitation data through the obs4MIPs project in the ESGF data node for the purpose of comparing NASA observational data with IPCC CMIP5 Climate Model data.
