Leaf Area Index and Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (LAI/FPAR)

MODIS FPAR/LAI is the Fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active radiation that a plant canopy absorbs for photosynthesis and growth in the 0.4 – 0.7nm spectral range. Leaf area index is the biomass equivalent of FPAR. CDS has published global, gridded LAI/FPAR data in ESGF's obs4MIPs project for the purpose of comparing NASA observational data with IPCC CMIP5 Climate Model data.

Spatial Coverage: Global
Temporal Coverage: daily, 8-day
Data Resolution: 1 km
