// NCCS ACCOUNT CLOSURE
Ready to discontinue your access to NCCS computing resources? Follow these steps to disable your NCCS user ID:
- Remove your data from NCCS systems
- Request user ID deletion
DATA DISPOSITION
Before having your NCCS user ID disabled, you are expected to transfer your data off HEC resources in accordance with your Computational Project’s Data Management Plan. (Contact your principal investigator if you have questions about this plan.)
All data should be removed except for curated datasets housed in the NCCS data collection that have been made available to other users for research purposes.
Data that is not transferred off HEC resources or reassigned to an existing, valid NCCS computational project is subject to deletion. We will contact the PI for instructions on data disposition when we delete the account, but if we receive no direction, data will be made inaccessible via “chmod -R 000” and will not be retained for longer than 2 years. If storage resources become constrained, data may be deleted sooner.
REQUESTING ACCOUNT CLOSURE
Email the NCCS User Services Group to request account closure.
Alternatively, you may personally request your NCCS account deletion in IdMAX:
- Request the removal of the "NCCS Application" from your NASA Identity, or
- During the annual revalidation of your NASA Identity (email), request the removal of the "NCCS Application."
COMPUTATIONAL PROJECTS and Principal Investigators
If a Principal Investigator (PI) is not awarded an allocation for a fiscal year, use of a PI’s computational project is automatically disabled as of October 1st. A PI may reach out to the NCCS to confirm whether their computational project is being discontinued, and either begin data removal, or consult the HEC eBooks concerning a new allocation award.
Computational projects may be reenabled once an allocation is awarded by the HEC Allocation Authority.
