// RSA Tokens

Due to the agency’s new centralized billing and distribution process for Agency RSA SecurID hardware and software tokens, the NCCS can no longer request tokens for NCCS user IDs whose NCCS Principal Investigator is located at another NASA Center or in another GSFC Code:

  • A user, who wishes to use an RSA token for two-factor authentication, should consult with their NCCS Principal Investigator for assistance, and may submit a token request through their NASA Center or GSFC Code using the NASA Account Management System (NAMS) at https://idmax.nasa.gov/nams .
  • An off-site non-NASA user, who wishes to use an RSA token for two-factor authentication, will have their token request submitted by the NCCS, as long as they provide the required financial information as outlined below.

NASA requires two-factor authentication for access to NCCS computing resources. NCCS users may use either their NASA PIV Smartcards), or an Agency RSA SecurID Token. For users who may require a token, you may choose either a software or a hardware token.

// Requesting a Token through NAMS

For a user located at another NASA Center or in another GSFC Code, please consult with your Principal Investigator (PI) for assistance requesting a token through NAMS. You or your PI may submit your token request through NAMS at URL: https://idmax.nasa.gov/nams.

Note: If you're submitting a NAMS request to add the Agency RSA SecureID Token (ID227034) application to your NASA Identity, you will be required to provide the following information in the NAMS request:

* Funding Center:
* Cost Center:
* Fund Code:
* WBS:
* Budget POC:
* Email of the Budget POC:
* Business Justification:

// Software Token

A software token is an application that can be used on either your Android or iPhone smartphone.

SOFTWARE TOKEN PASSCODE

Users with a software token will open the Android/iOS RSA app on their smartphones and enter their PIN on the "Enter PIN" screen to obtain an 8-digit Tokencode. Make certain that on the computer you are entering ONLY the 8-digit Tokencode that is produced on your phone and not the PIN. For a software token, the PIN is only entered on the "Enter PIN" screen on your phone, not the computer.

Note: You can only use a Tokencode successfully once. If the Tokencode becomes locked after multiple failed attempts, call the NASA Enterprise Service Desk (ESD). to unlock your RSA token – (301) 286-3100; National Toll Free: 1(877) 677-2123.

// Hardware Token

HARDWARE TOKEN PASSCODE

You will be asked to set up your Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you receive your RSA hardware token.

A PASSCODE for a hardware token is 14 characters long. The PASSCODE is a combination of your PIN, and the changing Tokencode number displayed on your hardware token.

  • For example: XXXXXXXX999999
  • Here XXXXXXXX represents your PIN, and 999999 represents the Tokencode number that is currently displayed on your hardware token.

The Tokencode number will change in either 30 or 60 seconds.

Note: You can only use a Tokencode successfully once. If the Tokencode becomes locked after multiple failed attempts, call the NASA ESD. to unlock your RSA token – (301) 286-3100; National Toll Free: 1(877) 677-2123.
