// NCCS Initial User Setup Guide
This page is intended to help users through the initial processes in starting at the NCCS
Step 1: Check Your Email
An email with subject: "Welcome to the NCCS User Community" was sent to your email address (check spam/junk if it does not appear in the inbox). This email contains your userid and other important information.
Step 2: Contact USG (User Services Group)
In order to log onto your NCCS systems, you will need to call or email NCCS USG at 301-286-9120 or support@nccs.nasa.gov to set up your initial temporary password. During this process, users will be able to reset their password to their own liking. This password can also be referred to as your NCCS LDAP Password, which allows you to log onto all Linux-based NCCS systems and services.
Step 3: RSA & LDAP Passwords
Users will require two passwords to log onto the NCCS Systems after your initial password has been set up. Please follow the two drop-down menus below.
Step 4: NCCS Computational Project Information
Your NCCS Computational Project information allows NCCS to track users compute and storage allocations, which has been authorized by your Principal Investigator (PI).
Step 5: Other Information
NCCS Systems & Services
Below are tabs to view information about NCCS systems and services which are offered at the NCCS.
Mass Storage System (Dirac)
The DMF data storage facility is maintained on the NCCS SGI (dirac) computing system. The password for access to DMF is always the same as your password on dirac (i.e. your NCCS LDAP password). For more information on how to use NCCS Storage systems, expand the tab below.
SLURM Resource Manager
NCCS provides SchedMD's Slurm resource manager for users to control their scientific computing jobs and workflows on the Discover supercomputer. Users can submit jobs to be scheduled, specify resource requests such as CPU time, memory, as well as other options for optimizing productivity.
If the NCCS User Services Group can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
